Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

Success also means he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
